Textiles Colour Project

I chose the colour red starting my research with what red means to some cultures. China interested me the most and I wished to develop some designs based on Chinese New Year. I wanted to do a sculptural based garment therefore I looked at Alexander McQueen and Hussien Chalayan as infulences. I really liked the idea of creating a range of different sized fans out of fabric, pleating and spraying them with starch to hold the fan structure in place.

Sculptural

An A2 project which I really enjoyed! Influenced from designers such as Alexander Mcqueen.
I concentrated on knitting and smocking to construct my final piece.
I began by looking at movement of the body and how fabric creates different shapes and textures when worn.

Alphabet Graphics Project

We were told to create our own style of lettering. I really wanted to do something with sentcils and photographing them with an image visable through the letter. I cut out each letter of the alphabet along with a full stop and a comma using black card. I wanted the letters to be colourful and sweets was what came to mind, so I researched all different types of sweets and found a sweet beginning with each letter of the alphabet. Unfortunatly there aren't any for the letters, Q, U, X and Z. I photographed my original sentcils with the background as wood.

Rotations

A few rotations of some photos I took in the snow

Maquettes

A few unedited and edited photos of my maquette. I didn't intend to create the building like shadow and was very pleased to find out this was the shadow it created as it fitted in nicely with the Urban theme that I was studying at the time.

I also did a clay maquette.

Cat Mop Slippers - Graphics

Our second graphics project was to chose a crazy japanese invention and do an advertisement for it. I began with intial drawings, moving on to scanning them in and editing on photoshop to create a range of posters.
I chose the invention of Cat mop slippers. A small shoe that the cat would wear which had mop strands attached so effectively the cat would be able to mop your floor as it walked around.

I did two versions of this poster as I couldn't decide which looked better.
